Happy Read Across America Week! To celebrate, I created a new product that can be used during this week! Since we are reading across AMERICA, why not incorporate some geography and mapping skills! Students will use their state capital as the starting point as they discover distances to other capitals using the map scale. There is also a challenge where students will extend their thinking and apply math skills to plan a spring break road trip! You will need a map of the United States with the capitals listed to complete this activity, along with a map scale where 1/4 of an inch represents 100 miles. I printed off a map without a scale, and added one myself before running off copies. This was easier for me to ensure it was the exact size that I needed. :) Visit my TPT store and pick up this activity for FREE! I just loved how my door turned out! Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!
